Shocking news!

Can't believe I missed this gem, "Satisfy customers, make money" from News.com. Seriously, did they really need a study to conclude that:

Companies that concentrate on meeting customers' needs are the ones most likely to make sales and lure new devotees.

That just cracks me up.

iseff is the mean efficiency calculated for both curves

Just noticed that Google now allows for wildcard searches now. It's a great tool, and fun, too. For example: iseff is the * returns:

iseff is the mean efficiency calculated for both curves.

Umm, cool?

alo novo - The socially aware ecommerce site

Just found alo novo through this story on News.com:

Alonovo.com lets people define the social and environmental values they feel are important and see how different merchants perform in those areas using data from KLD Research and Analytics. The areas include labor relations, animal rights, fair trade, charitable giving, clean-energy use and recycling, among others.

The sales are made through Amazon.com and buyers have access to merchants affiliated with that site.

I think this is really just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what we're going to see from Web 2.0. The data is already here, the infrastructure is already here, just build useful tools for different people and you'll be rewarded.

We Are the Web

One of the most inspiring articles I've read in a long time. Reminds me of the good old days of Wired, the magazine that shaped my dreams.
By 2015, desktop operating systems will be largely irrelevant. The Web will be the only OS worth coding for. It won't matter what device you use, as long as it runs on the Web OS. You will reach the same distributed computer whether you log on via phone, PDA, laptop, or HDTV.
Hmm, Openomy could fit well there. ;)
