Looking through my Flickr photos tonight, I noticed more views than expected on a photo.
I looked at the photo stats and saw a referrer from Squidoo, Seth Godin’s company. Hmm… I clicked through to find a page about iPhone ringtones. That seemed strange to me (I did take the picture with my iPhone, but it clearly has nothing to do with ringtones).
This ringtone page includes photos from Flickr taken by iPhones. Apparently my photo showed up.
I wonder if this is a clever attempt by Squidoo at spamming Flickr: get people to see these referrers and visit Squidoo? Likely it’s not, and someone just thought this to be a neat addition to a page about ringtones, but it sufficiently abnormal to pique my interest…
