On Missing The Boat Entirely…

From the It Can’t Be This Hard To Legally Download Music Department

For the past week or so, I’ve been trying to buy Kid Rock’s latest single, All Summer Long (indeed, summers in Northern Michigan are fantastic). The song has gone #1 on VH1’s Top 20 (and has reached #1 in many European countries), the record is double platinum, and the album was released October 9, 2007. The YouTube video has over 12.7 million views.

Yet, the song isn’t available anywhere for purchase online for US residents. No iTunes, no AmazonMP3, no Rhapsody, etc. It is available for UK residents at 7digital, but that’s not much help to me.

Why is it this hard to buy a song legally?

Note: This is clearly an intentional move by Kid Rock since his web site is quick to point out fakes on iTunes.
