My 10 Coding Commandments

  1. Thou shalt not optimize until absolutely necessary. 
  2. Thou shalt ruthlessly delete code at any available opportunity. 
  3. Thou shalt use the right tool for the job. 
  4. Thou shalt abstract when necessary, but ONLY when necessary. 
  5. Thou shalt stand on the shoulders of giants. 
  6. Thou shalt never become religious.
  7. Thou shalt test. 
  8. Thou shalt launch early and often. 
  9. Thou shalt always be learning. 
  10. Thou shalt use emacs. ;)
